Twice Shy

This piece explores failure of trust and how it amplifies introverted nature. Connected by a crimson thread, the wary hares share a disquieting bond. Despite their companionship, their gazes turn from each others reflection. Foxglove represents the metaphorical poisoning of the artist's own heart.

Once Bitten

Focusing on the concept of trust, when you give it to people who ultimately fail you and how it feels to have your eyes opened this piece looks at nature to portray a story through symbols. The snake as betrayer lays in open palms but the eyes see it for what it is -the  potential for danger. The poppies represent the veil of opioids and how judgment can be clouded by our choices.

A Wounded Deer Leaps the Highest 2021

This piece reflects on the sometimes crippling inability to speak up or speak out about painful lived experiences.

The arrow pierces the blue throat chakra on the deer, a common prey animal to larger predators. The deer appears unaffected with the exception of one tear forming in its large eye. Often we silently carry our pain with grace and this is supposed to be courageous and applauded because it makes others more comfortable when it’s hidden from view. The deer is wreathed by belladonna flowers, famously known as deadly nightshade but also used medicinally for sedation and other remedies. This flower can both harm and heal in the same way keeping silent about our truth can.
